This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

- All applicants are required to have successfully completed an LLN test and demonstrate competence for all indicators to enrol for this qualification
Note: Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.

Course Duration: 26 weeks
Course Fee: AUD $12,000 (includes Workshop training , Materials & Administration Fee)
Administration Fee – $350 (Not included if selected as a package with (AUR30616 – Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology-0101307)
Materials fee covers the cost of goods, materials and / or services provided by Signet to be used by students in the course of training. The Materials Fees in this qualification include:
- Trade tools
- Class materials
- Printing
- Stationery
- Safety wear
- Uniforms
- Excursions.

COURSE DURATION
This course is delivered in a structured classroom environment which includes the Signet purpose built workshop and computer laboratory.
The program will be delivered – Blended (Face to Face + Online) + Workshop Training.
The simulation training is for review of the learning activities, practicing communication, work based skills, management skills and to undertake other assessments e.g. project(s), presentation etc.
You will find the hands-on practical simulation training interesting and beneficial, so that you are able to perform tasks efficiently and effectively in an actual workplace which will build your confidence and competence.

- Observation in a simulated work environment
- Observation after in actual work environment via third party reports and observation checklists
CREDIT TRANSFER (CT)
If you have previously completed a unit with the same unit code or unit title as in your new course, you may be eligible for a credit transfer and you may not have to repeat that unit.
You will need to complete a credit transfer application form, and provide a certified copy of the transcript of statement of attainment.
Applications for credit transfer must be made prior to the commencement of the course.

After successfully completing AUR40216 – Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, students may apply for:
- AUR50216 – Diploma of Automotive Technology
