This qualification reflects the role of a dental technician responsible for construction and repair of dentures and other dental appliances including crowns, bridges, partial dentures, pre- and post-oral and maxillofacial surgical devices, and orthodontic appliances.
Dental technicians work in dental laboratories on their own or in groups, under the prescription of dentists, dental prosthetists or dental specialists.

COURSE DURATION
This qualification is delivered to the domestic and international students over a total of 1754 hours. Students enrolled in this course will have up to 96 weeks to complete the course requirements. This course is delivered over nine (9) term periods of ten weeks each.
The overall course duration include term breaks of two weeks each and end of the year Christmas breaks and long summer holidays.
Face to face delivery mode consists of student participation in job role demonstrations and computer aided learning and modelling.

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at diploma level; this can be demonstrated via any of the following:
- 18 years or older upon application
- All applicants are required to have successfully completed an LLN test and demonstrate competence for all indicators to enrol for this qualification
Note: Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is essential for the student to possess basic computer skills.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Dental Technology will enable graduates you to pursue the HLT65015 Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics.
